Several
jazz combos at BYU-Idaho will be performing Saturday, Nov. 15, at 7:30 p.m. on the stage in the Hinckley
Building.
Tickets
are $2 for the general public and $1 for current BYU-Idaho students and may
be purchased by calling the BYU-Idaho Ticket Office at 496-2230 or by
visiting their website at www.byui.edu/tickets.
Under
the direction of Denson Angulo, the concert will
feature three separate jazz combos that will perform a variety of songs and
styles. All of the arrangements are done by students and will offer a look
into the free-flowing nature of the music.
“It’s
really laid back and a lot of fun,” he says. “The music is what
jazz is truly all about, communication and improvisation. Ninety percent of
the music you will hear is made up on the spot.”
Performed
every semester, the jazz combo concert allows students an opportunity to
share their talents in a relaxed atmosphere with the freedom to improvise
and experiment.
