Several
national business leaders will participate in the third annual Entrepreneur
Conference Oct. 23, at Brigham Young University-Idaho.
This
year’s conference will feature the following speakers:
Mitch
Davis earned a master’s degree in film production at the University
of Southern California before
landing a job as a junior executive in Disney’s creative group. There
he worked on films such as “Rockateer,”
“Newsies,” “White Fang”
and “Dead Poets Society.” He later moved to Columbia Studios
where he worked as a producer before pursuing a career as an independant film maker. Most recently, Davis
was director and executive producer for the film “The Other Side of
Heaven.”
Shelli Gardner is the CEO and co-founder
of Utah-based Stampin’ Up!, a direct sales
company that offers decorative stamp sets and accessories for home decor,
greeting cards, craft projects and scrapbooking.
After co-founding the company 15 years ago, it has grown to over 420
employees and 30,000 Stampin’ Up! demonstrators in all 50 states and Canada
who teach the art of stamping at in-home workshops. In 1999, Ernst &
Young awarded Gardner with its
prestigious Entrepreneur of the Year Award.
Robert
Allen is a five-time New York Times bestselling author of “Nothing
Down,” “Creating Wealth,” “Multiple Streams of
Income,” “Multiple Streams of Internet Income,” and the
newly released book “The One Minute Millionaire,” which made
the New York Times bestseller list within days after being published. He is
a highly-sought after speaker, consultant and mentor that has taught his mega-fold success strategies to tens of
thousands worldwide.
Jim
Houtz acted as chairman and CEO for 29 years
of CyCare Systems, a pioneer in group practice
medical billing and insurance software systems. He is the author of “Seize
the American Dream,” and is currently the chairman of Southwest Jet
Aviation and InteGreat, and a board member of
Copper Software and Resort Golf.
They
will participate in a question-and-answer session at 8 a.m. in the Taylor Chapel, followed by a keynote
address given by Robert Allen at 9 a.m.
also in the Taylor Chapel. Breakout sessions will be held at 10 a.m. and 11
a.m. in Taylor 120, Smith 240 and Smith 340. Concluding the
conference will be a keynote address given by Mitch Davis at 2 p.m. in the Taylor Chapel.
In
conjunction with the conference, the Student Entrepreneur of the Year award
will be presented at an invitation only luncheon at 12:30 p.m.
The
Entrepreneur Conference is hosted by the College
of Business and Communication
and the BYU-Idaho chapter of Students in Free Enterprise.
