As a way to provide
effective and timely delivery and to reduce costs, Brigham Young
University-Idaho has made e-mail an official method of communication with
students and employees.
Students
and employees are responsible to check their e-mail accounts frequently,
says Russel Benedict, director of financial
services.
While
certain information is still sent through ground mail, some official
university notifications and information is only sent to students and
employees through campus e-mail.
“Most
people like the convenience of using e-mail. E-mail makes information
access easier and also makes it easier for people to respond,"
Benedict says.
Part
of that convenience comes from e-mails that have direct website links,
giving students and employees the ability to respond automatically, whether
it is paying a fee or responding to a question.
Benedict
suggests students check their accounts frequently and delete any unneeded
messages because campus e-mail accounts that reach their storage limit will
not accept incoming e-mail. An ideal way to monitor student email is
through using the my.byui.edu website. If students have questions or
problems with email, contact the Computer Helpdesk at 496-2361 or toll free
at 1-866-237-5195.
Currently
three regular student e-mails are sent to all students each week.
Monday’s e-mail contains information on student associations and
societies, Tuesday’s e-mail on student activities and
Wednesday’s e-mail contains other general information for
students.
Employees
receive email updates on a daily basis.
