The
BYU-Idaho University Choir and Women's Glee will perform their first
combined concert of the semester Thursday, Nov. 6, at 7:30 p.m. in the Barrus
Concert Hall of the Snow Center
for the Performing Arts.
Tickets
are $2 for the general public and $1 for current BYU-Idaho students and can
be purchased online at www.byui.edu/tickets or by calling the BYU-Idaho
Ticket Office at 496-2230.
The
165-member University Choir, conducted by Randall Kempton, will perform
several familiar hymns, including “Amazing Grace” and other
arrangements by Mack Wilberg. It will also
perform a piece entitled “Lament for a Lost Child,” which uses
non-traditional singing to describe the emotions felt after a parent
suffers the loss of a child.
“We
hope that audiences will feel something that will help them, strengthen
them in their everyday lives. Hopefully, anyone struggling with feelings of
being lost or forgotten, will through the musical experience we give them
find a way to get back in touch with their source of spiritual power,”
Kempton said.
Marybeth
Jones will conduct the 40-member Women’s Glee, which will perform a
variety of numbers, including a pop song called “Brian’s Song,”
several spiritual numbers and other seasonal numbers such as “Joyous
Hallelujah.”
