Center Stage Performing Arts Series

announces its fall-winter schedule

REXBURG, Idaho — The Center Stage Performing Arts Series at Brigham Young University-Idaho in Rexburg has announced its fall and winter lineup that ranges from Grammy award-winning pianist George Winston to an outdoor homecoming concert by 1964, a tribute to the Beatles.

The Center Stage series will offer a little bit for everyone this season,” says coordinator Don Sparhawk. “We’re bringing back a few of your favorite performers, while at the same time introducing some new names.”

Tickets for these events generally go on sale three weeks prior to the event and range in price from $6 to $10 for the general public and $1 for BYU-Idaho students. Season tickets are still available to community patrons for $80.

For tickets and other information, call the BYU-Idaho Ticket Office at (208) 496-2230. A free brochure is available. The ticket office is located on the lower floor of the Manwaring Center. It is open weekdays when school is in session from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. (except on Tuesdays when the office closes at 2 p.m.).             The following shows and concerts will be presented this year:

Tomáš  Kubinek will perform his one-man show Sept. 6 and 7 in the Snow Drama Theater.             1964-The Tribute will be featured at the homecoming concert Sept. 20 in Viking Stadium. This will be the third appearance of the popular group in Rexburg. Choosing songs from the pre-Sergeant Pepper era, the group recreates an early 1960s live Beatles concert, complete with period instruments, clothing, hairstyles and on-stage banter.

Cherish the Ladies will perform Oct. 2 and 3 in the Kirkham Auditorium. They have been named Entertainment Group of the Year by the Irish Voice Newspaper and received the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall's International Group of the Year Award at the Celtic Connections Festival in Scotland. The "Celtic Album," their collaboration with the Boston Pops Symphony, led to a 1999 Grammy nomination.
