BYU-Idaho clarinetist to present recital

Clarinetist Bill Holman of the BYU-Idaho Music Department will present a recital Wednesday, Nov. 12, at 7:30 p.m. in the Recital Hall of the Snow Center for the Performing Arts. The concert is free of charge and open to the public.

Holman will perform a wide variety of solo clarinet music and chamber music accompanied by Stephen Allen on the piano and Kevin Call on the viola.

The concert will feature two 20th century pieces with a distinct jazz influence, “Fairy Tales” by Schumann and several other chamber and solo pieces.

“There will be something for everyone to enjoy. There will be a lot of variety with different styles from several different time periods,” Holman says.

Growing up in Iowa and Florida, he has been playing the clarinet since he was 12. He holds a doctorate of musical arts degree from the University of Iowa and was an associate professor of clarinet at BYU in Provo, Utah, before coming to BYU-Idaho in 2001.
