BYU-Idaho Alumni planning

South America and Hawaii tours

REXBURG, Idaho–The Brigham Young University-Idaho Alumni and Friends Travel Club is planning two tours for alumni and friends of Ricks College and BYU-Idaho.

The first tour is scheduled to depart for Mexico April 27, spending 12 days touring Mexico, Guatemala and Machu Picchu. The tour will explore the lands associated with the Book of Mormon, including the Mayan, Incan and Aztec cultures. Newly appointed associate academic vice president Roy Huff will host the alumni on the tour.

While most of the spots for the South America tour are filled and the departure date is quickly approaching, there is still room for the Hawaii tour, which leaves Aug. 13 and returns Aug 23. The tropical trip includes an overnight stay at Turtle Bay Resort and port stops in Kauai, Hilo, Kona and Maui. The group will visit the Polynesian Cultural Center, Hawaii LDS Temple and Pearl Harbor. Pricing includes round trip air from Salt Lake City, accommodations and site entrance fees.

Jodi Harris of the Alumni Office says that the goal is to create a unique environment on the tours.

“Our goal as an Alumni and Friends Travel Club is to provide a variety of small affordable tours that ensure LDS standards, including Sunday worship,” she says. “Whether you are exploring South America or enjoying a relaxing cruise in Hawaii, you’ll be able to enjoy the company of alumni and friends of the Alumni Association.”
