REXBURG,
Idaho -
Brigham Young University-Idaho students have elected Eddy Dos Santos
student body president for the Winter Semester 2005. Emily Carlson was
elected executive vice president and Jake Adams administrative vice
president.
Final
voting results were announced Friday, Nov. 19, at 5:30 p.m. in the Manwaring Center East Ballroom. The finals proved to be
a close race, following an even closer primary race. These officers-elect
have already met with the current student body officers to discuss their
responsibilities and plans for next semester.
Dos
Santos, a senior from Sao Paolo, Brazil,
is majoring in business finance. He plans on graduating at the end of
summer 2005. He earned his associate degree in international studies and

to Brazil.
He is the first Brazilian and third foreign student to serve as a student
body officer and by far the oldest at age 28.
“I’m
excited and looking forward to the experience. I’m just ready to work
and do whatever they want us to do. I’m excited to work with both
Jake and Emily, they’re both very capable,” said Santos.

emphasis in organizational communication. She will graduate with clusters
in family studies and in business in April 2005. After receiving her
degree, Carlson plans on attending beauty school and pursuing a masters in organizational behavior. She is also
considering serving a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day
Saints.
“I’m
just excited to work with and learn from all the student directors,”
said Carlson.
