Communication Day to be held at BYU-Idaho

Brigham Young University-Idaho students will have the opportunity to gain perspectives on real-world experience from top media professionals from across the country during the third annual Communication Day Thursday, Oct. 7, hosted by the BYU-Idaho Communication Department.

This event will team nearly 1,000 communication students and media professionals in a positive learning environment to prepare students for the current job market, for working in a communication industry and for understanding vital skill sets they need to succeed.

The keynote speaker will be Jeffery Goddard, president and CEO of TVA Productions, a firm that uses emerging media technologies for marketing, advertising and public relations for international countries. He has been called a pioneer in the effective utilization of emerging media technologies for marketing, advertising and PR. Goddard will speak at 2 p.m. in the Taylor Chapel.

Other speakers include Steve McGowan, senior vice president of Client Research Initiative at Nielsen Media Research; Julie Dockstader Heaps, a staff writer and photographer for the Church News in Salt Lake City; Jeff Hochstrasser, president of Highstreet Advertising and Promotion in Puyallup, Wash.; and David Chandler, a BYU-Idaho faculty member with organizational communication background.
