SMTP
For security and protection from SPAM, BYU-Idaho does not have an outgoing (or SMTP) server available from off-campus. BYU-Idaho also does not support an Microsoft Outlook connection to Exchange without a VPN connection. For sending emails from off-campus, Employees must either use their internet service provider, an alternate email service, or Outlook Web Access. BYU-Idaho only directly supports Outlook Web access for sending email while off-campus.
For on-campus employees who choose to use an application other than Outlook or Entourage, your IMAP or POP connection will require an SMTP server. On-campus employees may use the server smtp.byui.edu with the settings shown below.
