Access email with a Smartphone/PDA
Most smartphones or PDAs have at least these 2 methods of retrieving your email: IMAP & POP3. Below you will see the settings for setting up each method.
IMAP:
- Incoming Mail Server: imap.byui.edu. Select SSL and Port 993.
- Outgoing Mail Server: Your phone providers outgoing mail server. BYU-Idaho Does not have it's own public SMTP Server.
- Account name or Username: If your User Name is johndoe123 and your email is doej@byui.edu, you would use BYUI/jondoe123/doej
- Password: This is the password associated with your BYU-Idaho User Name (formerly referred to as your netid password).
POP3:
- Mail Server or Incoming Mail Server: pop3.byui.edu. Select SSL and Port 995.
- Outgoing Mail Server: Your phone providers outgoing mail server. BYU-Idaho Does not have it's own public SMTP Server.
- E-mail address: This is the BYU-Idaho e-mail address from which you wish to retrieve mail.
- Account name or Username: If your User Name is johndoe123 and your email is doej@byui.edu, you would use BYUI/jondoe123/doej
- Password: This is the password associated with your BYU-Idaho User Name (formerly referred to as your netid password).
