Connecting to Outlook Live with Outlook Express (POP)
STEP 1:
Open Outlook Express, and then select the "Tools" option and from that menu select "Accounts..."
STEP 2:
In the "Internet Accounts" window you will want to click on the "Add" button and then select the "Mail" option in the menu.

STEP 3:
In this window you will Enter your Full name, and then click next.
STEP 4:
You will now enter your University Email address, and then Click Next.
STEP 5:
In this next window you will Select "POP3" as your incoming mail server. The "Incoming mail Server" field will be outlook.com. The "Outgoing mail (SMTP) server" field will be different for everyone to find out what yours is click here and follow the directions. Once you have your specific server name enter it in the appropriate field and click "Next >".
“If you are on campus you may use mail.byui.edu to send email. If you
are off campus you must use another mail server to send mail. BYUI
currently does not support an outgoing mail server that is available
both on and off campus.”
STEP 6:
You will now enter your University Email address and password, in the "Account name" and "Password" fields, and then click "Next >".
STEP 7:
You will receive a message now telling you that you are finished, Click finish but you still have more to do.
STEP 8:
You will be returned back to the "Internet Accounts" window, here you will want to select the "Properties" buttons.
STEP 9:
You will want to click on the "Advanced" tab. In this tab you will want to make sure that both the check boxes that state "This server requires a secure connection (SSL)" is checked. You will also want to check the option "Leave a Copy of message on server". Once your done hit "Apply" and then "OK".You will be returned to the "Internet Accounts" window, click the "Close" button.
STEP 10:
You will now just click the "Send and Receive All" button and your emails will download, you will be able to tell by looking at your "Inbox" and it will indicate how many have downloaded.
