Steps to Receive Federal Financial Aid

 

Step 1. Read the following information

  • The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is the first step to apply for Pell Grants and/or Student Loans.
  • If you qualify, the Pell Grant will automatically be awarded.
  • If interested in student loans, there are additional steps to complete. See Step 5 below.
  • If you are engaged to be married, contact our office for more details on how and when to apply for federal student aid.

Step 2. Request a PIN from the Department of Education.

Step 3. Collect the documents you need.

  • You may print and complete a paper Pre-Application Worksheet before you begin the FAFSA.
  • The BYU-Idaho Title IV code which is required on the FAFSA is: 001625.
  • Click here to make corrections to a processed FAFSA

Step 5. Watch for the results of your Financial Aid application

Step 6. Money will be sent to the BYU-Idaho Accounting Office.

  • Tuition, Fees, On-Campus housing, and Meal Plans will automatically be deducted from your award.
  • To have other campus charges deducted automatically, you must answer "Yes" on the Title IV authorization form.
  • Click here to view your BYU-I account online.

Step 7. Pick up remaining money at the Cashiers Office located in the Kimball Administration Building.

  • The Cashiers Office located in the Kimball building is open Monday-Friday between 8:15 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
