Teacher Assistant Application

The English Department offers many opportunities for student employment. You may work as a Teacher Assistant to a member of the faculty.

 

Please do not send your application or writing samples electronically. Bring it to the English Department Office in Rigby 180. If you are not on campus, your samples and application will be reviewed, but not printed or passed to other faculty members. As soon as  you are on campus, please bring a hard copy to the English Department for review.

Description

 

 

A Teacher Assistant will focus primarily on clerical tasks but may be asked to participate in limited teaching. The TA will not award numerical or letter grades.

Salary

$7.35 / hour; 5-20 hours / week

Qualifications

 

 

  • English Major
  • English 111 and 251
  • May be currently enrolled in Eng 430

Advantages

Preparation to work as a Faculty Intern.

Duties

Clerical duties such as:

  • Checking student journal entries
  • Creating PowerPoint presentations
  • Acting as a Blackboard administrator
  • Working on faculty projects

There may be some opportunity to:

  • Attend class
  • Respond to student papers
  • Participate in limited teaching and research

Prerequisites

No credit earned. Must keep a weekly journal and write a final two-page reflective paper.
