Other Technology Certification Options

The state of Idaho recognizes three technology certification options offered throughout the state. BYU-Idaho currently offers the Idaho Technology Certification Exam administered by Boise State University. However, students may choose another option to meet the state technology requirements. The information provided here is for convenience only and does not constitute official policies regarding these assessments.

 

Idaho Technology Performance Assessment

This assessment, administered by Lewis Clark State College, requires students to perform technology tasks while being observed by a proctor. It consists of six tasks with a time limit of one hour per task. Students may take all six tasks during one testing period or during separate periods.

 

The cost for this assessment is $20 per task or $100 for all six tasks. Each task is graded independently and retakes for each failed task also cost $20.

Idaho Technology Portfolio Assessment

This portfolio assessment, administered by Idaho State University, requires students to submit a technology portfolio consisting of eight entries. Each entry must demonstrate the student's accomplishments in relation to the International Society for Technology in Education standards. There is no proctored exam for this option.

The cost to submit a portfolio is $50 dollars for the original submission. If a portion of a portfolio does not pass the evaluation the student may resubmit an entry, free of charge, for up to one year from the orginal submission date. After that time resubmissions cost $50.
