TRANSFER

The majority of our students transfer to schools throughout Utah and Idaho and much effort has been made to establish transfer agreements which aid our students in transferring . As you plan your schedule, consult your transfer school's catalog. Your academic advisor will also prove to be helpful, along with the faculty who teach in your major. By utilizing these resources you can minimize many of the frustrations you may encounter.

The following information is prepared to help you transfer your General Education to different schools. Keep in mind it does not take into account specific major requirements.

Often you can fill major requirements and General Education at the same time. Your advisor will be able to help you determine when this is possible.

Idaho
In addition to the Associate In Arts and Sciences degree, universities and colleges in Idaho will require students to complete an additional course in communications (Comm 102, 220) and Math 103 or higher. Students not planning to graduate should follow the chart--Idaho State Core.

Transferring To Schools In Utah
The following Utah Universities will accept your Associate in Arts and Sciences degree as fulfilling their General Education requirement:

Brigham Young University (additional classes are required, see chart)
Southern Utah University
University of Utah (U of U. requires English 211, Math 110 or Higher and American Heritage 100)
Utah State University
Weber State University
Utah Valley State College

If you are not planning to graduate from Ricks: Visit the Career Advising Center (ADM 200) where you will find an updated articulation guide. You will be able to match our GeneralEducation with your transfer school’s General Education program.

Transferring To Schools Outside of Utah and Idaho
Ricks students transfer to colleges and universities throughout the United States. Because of this, it is virtually impossible to establish articulation agreements with every school to which our students transfer.

In order to make a smooth transition from Ricks to your transfer school, you should do the following:
1. Contact your transfer school and obtain any tips that will aid you in planning your schedule while at Ricks.
2. Obtain catalogs from any schools to which you think you might transfer.
3. Keep in touch with your transfer school the whole time you are at Ricks.
4. Meet with your Ricks’ academic advisor to find the best possible transfer curriculum.

TRANSFERRING GENERAL EDUCATION IN THE STATE OF IDAHO CHART

As students complete the requirements of the Associate In Arts and Sciences degree they must also satisfy the Idaho State Core in order to be granted junior standing upon transfer to a four-year public institution in Idaho. Students must have Communications 102 or 220 and Math 103 or higher in the Basic Skills area of the Ricks General Education program . Students must have the Registrar’s office certify they have completed the requirements which make up the State Core (see chart below) by having their transcript stamped “Core Certified”. Students assume full responsibility for making sure the courses they select at Ricks will in fact complete the established Idaho State General Education Core.
