Quest: Location
Quest participants spend time on the BYU-Idaho campus and at Badger Creek Ranch. Due to weather concerns in the Teton Valley, Group A will end just before Thanksgiving.
Setting
Part of each program is held at Badger Creek Ranch. This BYU-Idaho Outdoor Learning Center is situated at the base of the majestic Teton Mountain Range. It is a postcard perfect setting for the outdoor enthusiast. Badger Creek provides a perfect location for field trips into the Yellowstone and Teton regions for academic and non-academic field trips. As part of the program, a Recreation Leadership course, Basic Outdoor Skills, is taught and students are able to participate in many of the ropes courses at Badger Creek and other recreational activities such as, backpacking, canoeing, white water rafting, hiking in the Tetons, and other activities.
Accommodations
Food and housing during the BYU-I campus portion of the program are not included in the expenses for Quest. For more information about housing at BYU-Idaho, visit the BYU-Idaho Housing web site.
Badger Creek was not initially designed as a resident facility. The facilities are designed to be rustic. It is not a luxury resort. It is far from that. Young women are housed in the main lodge in two large bay styled dorms (8 per room).
Young men are housed in small rustic cabins with 2 - 3 per cabin. Bathrooms are centralized. They require a short walk from the men's housing and are adjacent to the women's housing. Laundry facilities are available free of charge. We have attempted to upgrade the facilities to accommodate Quest as much as possible including a computer lab with internet access.
Meals are provided while at Badger Creek. We have the Quest students help with serving and clean-up of meals and keeping common areas clean.
Student Quotes:
