BYU-Idaho recognizes that with a diverse student body come an equally diverse number of students, cultures, languages, and talents. Some groups may be organized to promote cultural heritage and awareness within the BYU-Idaho community while others unite to strengthen and share their talents with others. To provide an opportunity for these individuals, BYU-Idaho permits students to organize in Associations. Requests to organize such a group should be directed to the Dean of Students for determination and approval.
Associations at BYU-Idaho exist to:
- Develop and deepen our devotion as disciples of Jesus Christ,
- Extend and enhance the sociality of student interactions,
- Enhance the cultural well-being of the university community,
- Provide opportunities for students to interact and enrich their talents,
- Provide a forum for students and faculty to discuss mutual interests or dialogue and interact on issues of cultural awareness,
- Provide students the opportunity to experience leadership,
- Develop meaningful relationships and strengthen bonds of friendship among students with similar cultural and special or unique talents,
- Strengthen the university community as a united group bound together by the principles of the gospel of Jesus Christ, and
- Provide opportunity for the students to share with the campus community their unique cultural heritage.
These Associations form voluntarily for the promotion of a common interest, ideal or goal and will meet the special needs of the group but will not duplicate the aims, objectives and purposes of the Activities Program, academic societies or other similar organizations.
