School Counselors

School counselors have a unique opportunity to guide and influence students in the college/university selection process. We have provided the information and links on this page (and in the sidebar) in hopes of better helping you identify students who would find a good fit at BYU-Idaho, as well as answering some common questions.

Early Admit Students

Early admit students (a high school student who wishes to be considered for full-time student status who will not receive a high school diploma) must follow the same procedures as a new freshman and in addition submit the following letters:

1. High school counselor or principal verifying that the student can no longer benefit from high school attendance, is academically prepared, and has the emotional and social maturity to attend a university or college.

2. If under 18, a parent or legal guardian giving their unconditional recommendation for early admission.

Early admit students must be no younger than 16 years of age.

Campus Tours

We invite prospective students and their parents to come and enjoy a tour of the campus of Brigham Young University—Idaho. Tours are given by BYU-Idaho students who will show you the campus from a student’s perspective. During your visit, you will also have the opportunity to get more information on admissions, available majors, housing, financial aid, scholarships, and campus activities.

As visiting a college campus is an extremely beneficial way to help prospective students identify the school of their choice, we greatly appreciate the efforts of counselors who encourage students to tour our campus and assist them in preparing for their visit. As many students desire to come on a school day, assistance in helping the student receive an excused absence is much appreciated.

Tours last about one hour and are available Monday through Friday starting at 9:00 AM with the last tour going out at 3:00 PM. Tours are not given Tuesday at 2:00 PM when we are closed for our weekly devotional.

We are able to accommodate groups of up to five people on our tour cart. Arrangements can also be made for larger groups. Please schedule your tour four or five days in advance for best time selection.
